Lingo
AddictMUD, as well as other MUDs and (M)MORPGs all have their own lingo. If you're a new player on Addict here are some of the things you might be hearing and some clarification of their meaning.
AddictMUD Lingo:
Fload: Short for force load. This is when a player or a group of players kill a monster or multiple monsters repeatedly in order to obtain an item from that monster (usually this item has a very low load rate).
Limit: Sometimes an item has a limit. This means that in order for a monster to load this item, there must be less than the limit of that item in the world. This includes players who are online and have this item in their inventory or are wearing it, and other monsters who may have it. This does not include items stored inside a house or in a locker. There is no way to know the limit on an item for sure (unless you are immortal) but sometimes you can deduce it for yourself when you kill a monster repeatedly.
Relo: Short for relocate. This is a spell the cleric has which allows him or her to relocate to another player (assuming the other player is not more than 5 levels higher than the cleric). Usage: cast 'relocate' <player name>.
Sum: Short for summon. This is a spell the cleric and paladin have which allows them to summon other players (assuming the other player has NOSUMMON off and is no more than 5 levels above the caster). Usage: cast 'summon' <player name>.
MINBID: Used primarily in the auction channel, this means the minimum amount of coins the player selling the item will accept. Once someone bids this amount or higher, the player selling the item will usually wait for any other bids before selling the item to the first bidder.
WTB/WTTF/TF/WTG: Used primarily in the auction channel, these acronyms are short for "Want to buy/want to trade for/trade for/want to get". You will see these used regularly and will probably use them yourself once you find you need items that others might have for trade/sale.
FT/FS: Also auction channel lingo, these are short for "For Trade" and "For Sale". If you have something you want to sell or trade, you can auction it on the auction channel. For example:
Auction Examples:
>auction FT: Arcane leggings, looking for Arcane Robe
Grail auctions, 'FT: Arcane leggings, looking for Arcane Robe'
>auction FS: clear bottle x100 minbid 1 million
Grail auctions, 'FS: clear bottle x100 minbid 1 million'
>auction WTB/TF: Greater Dragonlance, offering Short Sword of Speed
Grail auctions, 'WTB/TF: Greater Dragonlance, offering Short Sword of Speed'
*NOTE*: When you auction, please take into consideration that most people use the auction channel for trading decent equipment, so don't try selling things like scrolls of recall or identify that anybody can buy in a shop. If you are a newbie, chances are nobody will buy your old set of equipment once you upgrade from (newbie vests, etc.), so please don't auction these things. Also, never auction off anything you find in the donation room.
SSOS: You probably won't see this one too often, but it is short for "Short Sword of Speed", one of the only pieces of equipment on the mud to give a player an extra attack (ATTACKS +1).
WOD: Short for the spell Word of Death (given to Wizards at level 30 as of this writing). You will often hear about this spell because it is considered one of the most powerful offensive spells on the mud.
Dis: If somebody tells you to dis a monster, what they're talking about is the spell 'dispel magic'. This is a spell given to wizards which, when cast on a monster, removes any spells that the monster might have affecting them (such as sanctuary, fly, etc.). This spell has a saving throw (meaning it doesn't work 100% of the time).
